- Can help to manage tooth-grinding and/or thumb-sucking
- Builds oral strength, mobility and control
- Helps to decrease oral defensiveness and food aversions
- Allows individuals to practice biting/chewing without the risk of choking
- Also satisfies the urge to chew for individuals who are fed through a g-tube
Technical Information - ARK's Goshabunga Grabber Smooth measures approximately 6 3/4 " (17cm) long. The loop measures approximately 2 ¼” (5.5cm) across the widest part and ½” (1.2cm) thick. The hole for the handle is 3 ¼” (8cm) long and 1 ¼” (3cm) at its widest part. The long extension will reach the back molars.
Important note about choosing the correct colour
Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength who are just learning to bite and chew
Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It's firmer, but still fairly chewy, recommended for moderate chewers
Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it’s fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers
Note - Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. Some individuals (particularly those with heavy oral needs and aggressive biting/chewing) may go through it very quickly. How long each tool lasts depends on the oral sensory needs of the child, whether or not they are seeing an occupational therapist if needed, as well as many other variables in their life. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace as necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear
