Premium One-Way Stainless Steel Drinking Valve by ARK Therapeutic

ARK's Select-One-Way Valve makes straw drinking easier for beginners or for those with oral motor difficulties. It is designed to control the direction of fluid - liquid flows up into the straw but does not flow back down again. Sipping, therefore, requires less effort. It also reduces the amount of air ingested, so users will experience less coughing and choking when consuming more fluids.

The One-Way Valve is recommended for individuals who tend to aspirate or have difficulties generating and maintaining suction. Simply push the tapered end of the valve into the bottom of a straw. For individuals who tend to take too much fluid at a time, the valve also slows the flow of fluid, allowing for smaller, more manageable sips that lower the risk of coughing or choking.

The One-Way Valve is recommended for thin liquids (water, milk, juice without pulp, etc) but not for carbonated drinks. For thickened liquids, "nectar" consistency works fine. "Honey" consistency will work but will be harder to suck through the straw. "Pudding" consistency does not work, as it is too thick.

The One-Way Valve works with most standard drinking straws that measure approximately ¼” (6mm) in diameter.  It will also work with ARK's Poly Tubing Flexible Straw - it will be a snug fit but it does work.

The Premium One-Way Valve is made from medical grade stainless steel so will not rust. The valve is easy to take apart, clean, and put back together again. All parts can be boiled in water to sterilise if needed. Dishwasher safe.

The Valve measures approximately 5.5cm in length. A single valve is supplied, a spare washer and stainless-steel ball are included
